Description

An excellent pre-World War II Winchester Model 94 carbine chambered in .30 WCF (.30-30). This is a standard carbine with a 20" barrel with an excellent bore. Serial number is 1251287, produced in 1940. This is an original unaltered gun in beautiful condition and shows signs of light use. Receiver and barrel have 98% of the original deep blue with the very light wear along the edges of the receiver and on the barrel bands. Otherwise, there are no handling marks or scratches on either the receiver or barrel. The blued finish on the receiver is darker and slightly glossier than normally seen on pre-war Model 94’s and initially I thought it was re-blued. On closer inspection, I find none of the signs of buffing normally seen such as dishing around the screws, rounding of the sharp edges, and softening of the proof mark. Because Winchester was changing their bluing process during the time this 94 was produced, as evidenced by the W on the underside of the receiver, I suspect the bluing on the receiver of this rifle represents one of the metal finishes the company was developing. I could be wrong but it’s my best guess. At any rate and it has a very nice receiver finish. The bluing on the barrel is completely normal and in excellent shape and the stamped barrel markings are sharp and legible. The walnut stocks are in fine condition with the original factory finish mostly intact, there are a few handling marks and some flaking of the finish on the left side of the stock. The wood has never been sanded or refinished, and all wood is proud to the adjoining metal. It has both the correct, original front and rear Winchester sights, including the front sight hood. The butt stock has the original serrated steel butt plate it left the factory with and it has the majority of the blued finish on it. Bore is perfect, just like new. In summary, a pre-WWII era Winchester model 94 in fine original condition built during the period when Winchester produced its highest quality guns.

I will ship via UPS Ground in a new padded case, insured for $45, anywhere in the continental U.S. to a valid FFL
